Abacus Law PC was formed as a California professional corporation in January 2023 and practises business and corporate law from its office in Foster City, San Mateo County.
Our approach
Depth over breadth.
There is a version of a small law firm that takes anything — a will on Monday, a car accident on Tuesday, a lease on Wednesday. It is a reasonable way to run a business. It is not ours.
Abacus Law PC works on companies: how they are formed, governed, financed by their owners, bound by what they sign, and defended when a counterparty stops performing. Concentrating on one body of law means we recognise patterns. We know which clauses cause arguments two years later, which structures create tax and liability problems that only surface at exit, and which disputes are worth fighting.
It also means we know our limits. When a matter needs tax counsel, an employment specialist or an IP litigator, we say so early rather than learning on your invoice.

Cost agreed first
You will know the fee arrangement before work starts. Flat fees where the work is definable; a written estimate and progress updates where it is not.

One point of contact
Your matter is handled by the lawyer you met, not passed down a chain. Where outside specialists are engaged, we coordinate them.

Straight assessment
If your position is weak, you will hear it in the first meeting. Advice that only tells clients what they want to hear is worth nothing.
